| Love your site. I am a Honey Bear Farm collector and anything related to the site. If you look carefully at the Hotel Freundesruh (circa late 1800s) card, you will see the main building is the same as the Wa-To-Ma-Chek building. After Freundesruh closed (see picture below), a Chicago recreation organization for boys and girls operated camp Wa-To-Ma-Chek on the premises (circa 1930s-40s). Then the site became an operational farm. In the 50s the site then became Honey Bear Farm (minus the large hotel building) – the hotel’s original Aurora figure water fountain remained on the Honey Bear site on the bluff above the lake.
